Shirley A. Wyman, 85 of Worcester, MA passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 13, 2025 with her loving family by her side.
Shirley is survived by her daughter Cynthia L. Ide and her son David C. Wyman, her grandson David C. Wyman, Jr. and his wife Jill, her grandson Mark Ide and his wife Becky, her grand-daughter Ashley E. (Ide) Shirk and her husband Kyle. She leaves three great-grandchildren, Gabriella, Chandler and Nolan Wyman, her sister-in-law Sharyn Dalzell, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Chandler J. Wyman, Jr., two brothers, James Dalzell and Richard Dalzell and her nephew James Dalzell Jr.
Shirley was born in Worcester, daughter of the late Sydney W. Dalzell and Dorothy J. (Driscoll) Dalzell. She graduated from Commerce High School.
Shirley worked for Paul Revere Insurance Company, later working as a school crossing guard for Thorndyke Road School for nearly 50 years. She received the key to the City of Worcester for her dedication and service. She also worked at Price Chopper as a cashier, where she made many memorable happy acquaintances.
Shirley cherished time with her family, especially watching her great-granddaughter, Gabby play at her softball games and attending her dance recitals. She also enjoyed Chandler’s baseball games this past summer. During many of these games, she played ball with Nolan outside the field, enjoying a snack or two with Gram.
Shirley rarely turned down a trip to the casino, the slot machines were her favorite. Shirley also enjoyed bingo at the local church halls back in the day.
She loved the Boston Red Sox, never missing a game on television; she knew every player and their position. Shirley also enjoyed building puzzles and framing them for her family.
Shirley was a great family historian. She could recall many family events from an early age. Spending time with her family was truly her passion. Her penuche fudge and brownies were always a hit at family gatherings.
There will be no calling hours. Mass will be held at 11:00 AM on March 18, 2025 at St. Joan of Arc Church (570 Lincoln Street, Worcester MA). The mass will be followed by a private burial at Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton, MA.
