Sandra W. (Whitcomb) Grayson, age 85, passed away in the early morning on Wednesday, November 23, 2022 at the Holden Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Worcester, she was the daughter of the late Kenneth and Nellie (George) Whitcomb.

Sandy grew up in Worcester where she graduated from Commerce High School, Class of 1955. The stars aligned when she and Richard “Dick” Grayson met ballroom dancing in 8th grade. They fell in love and have been inseparable ever since. She went on to work for many years as an administrative assistant at Norton Company in Worcester. She and her husband settled in Holden where they raised three children. In 1994, they moved to Mashpee and lived there for 24 years, where she was an active member at the Osterville Methodist Church and co-founder of the Cape Cod Discovery Club.

Sandy was passionate about music. She sang in many choirs, most notably in the Grace Notes Choir at Greendale People’s Church, where she was an active and lifelong member, even while she lived in Mashpee.
She cared deeply about giving and connecting with people. She had a way about her that made people feel welcome and comfortable. Family was always her top priority. She especially adored her grandchildren.

The family would like to thank the team at the Holden Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center and the staff at the Jewish Healthcare Hospice for the compassionate care they gave Sandy.

She is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Richard N. Grayson; a son, Richard Grayson, Jr. and his wife, Jodie of Hopkinton; two daughters, Debra O’Connor and her husband, Jordan of Petersham, Heidi Sharry and her husband, Daniel of Wayland; six grandchildren, Erin O’Connor, Michael O’Connor, Adam Grayson, Carly Harwood, Dana Sharry, Anna Lyons; and a great-granddaughter, Madison. Besides her parents, she is predeceased by her brother, Kenneth Whitcomb, and her sister, Carolyn Everett.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial service honoring her life at 11:00 am on Saturday, December 3, 2022 at Greendale People’s Church, 25 Francis St., Worcester. Burial will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Greendale People’s Church Music Fund, 25 Francis St., Worcester, MA 01606. Funeral arrangements are under the care of Miles Funeral Home of Holden.
