Subscription Update Obituary

    Roy B. Hakenson served as in the US Army from May 1944 throught Decemebr 1945.

    Roy married Maeline P. Braley on April 7, 1931 and had three children; Roy, Richard and Rita.

    Upon entry into civilian life, worked the rest of his lift on the railroad, retiring as a master conductor and the Vice President of the United Transportation Union. Roy championed legislation with the assistance of Senators's Kennedy and Brooks for passsenger rail service in the Northeast corridor and especially communter rail servicefrom Worcester to Boston in 1971.

    Upon his death, widow were not allowed survivors pension from the Railroad. Madeline championed along with Senator's Kennedy and Brooks legislation that allowed benefits to widows in October , 1981.

    Roy and Madeline left a legacy of a wonderful family of 3 children, 9 grandhildren.

    Both are missed dearly and thought of every day.
