Roger F. Morin, 86, of Cape Coral, FL, formerly of Millbury, died on Tuesday, September 16, 2014, in Hope Hospice House North, Cape Coral, after a long illness.
He leaves his wife of 59 years, Theresa G. (LeBlanc) Morin; five sisters: Lorraine T. Larue and Anita A. Giro, both of Millbury, Bernice M. Seymour of Bunnell, FL, Jeanne A. Dalton of Auburn, and Janet M. Simonds of Mosheim, TN; a brother, Paul A. Morin of Douglas; nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Ocasa and Matilda (Trlida) Morin, and a brother, Edward J. Morin of Millbury.
Born in Stafford Springs, CT, on February 21, 1928, Mr. Morin lived in Millbury for most of his life before moving to Florida in 2001. He was a 1946 graduate of Millbury Memorial High School. A U.S. Army veteran, he served in the Army of Occupation in Germany during the Korean War and was honorably discharged with the rank of Sergeant (T) in 1952.
Mr. Morin was a meat department manager in several A & P grocery stores in central Massachusetts and southern New Hampshire during his 40 years with the company. He retired in 1986.
He was a Life Member of Auburn/Webster Lodge #2118, Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, and Charles F. Minney Post #3329, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Millbury. He was also a member of Dudley Gendron Post #414, American Legion, Sutton; Local #1445, United Food and Commercial Workers International Union Retirees Club, Dedham; and the Acoustic Music Society of Southwest Florida. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, travel and Bluegrass music.
Calling hours at Turgeon Funeral Home, 56 Main St., Millbury, will be Sunday, September 21, from 7:00 to 9:00 PM. A graveside service with military honors will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, September 22, in the Garden of Honor of Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton.
