Robert W. Jewell, 71, of Brookfield, died Tuesday, September 10th at his home surrounded by family after a long illness.

His wife, Diane J. (Brown) Jewell, died in 2017. He leaves his sons; Robert J. Jewell and his wife Kristina of Spencer and Michael J. Jewell and his wife Venessa of Woodstock, CT., his daughters; Valerie J. Preston-Thomas and her husband Mark of New Zealand, and Rachel L. Jewell of Holden and her partner Bob Krafve of Spencer, brothers; Richard Jewell of Worcester and Steven Jewell of Warren, and his sister; Holley Jewell of Brookfield, 12 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He is predeceased by a brother, Daniel Jewell.

Bob worked in the maintenance department for the Worcester Housing Authority for many years until his retirement in 2014.  His life was full, and he did all he could to provide the best for those he loved. He cherished his grand and great grandchildren without abandon.  He was a working man and taught us that hard work is what pays out the most and that you should respect anyone’s job as long as it is being done with good effort.

He enjoyed vacations with the family and liked to reminisce about times spent at the beach, camping and especially his trip to New Zealand.  He enjoyed his alone time as well, spending time with his hobbies, going hunting and taking his beloved Gracie on walks around the neighborhood.

Bob will be missed; from his quirky gifts bought online to his ‘say it like it is’ demeanor to his interesting conversations to his apparent love of the Grit channel.  We can find comfort knowing that he is now in peace and joined with Diane in heaven for all time.

A calling hour will be held on Tuesday, September 17th from 10 to 11 a.m. in the J.HENRI MORIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 23 Maple Ter., Spencer prior to a graveside service following in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Second Chance Animal Services, P.O. Box 136, East Brookfield, MA. 01515.
