Robert P. Russell, Sr. 71, of Titusville, Florida, formerly of Dudley and Worcester passed away peacefully the day after his 71st birthday on Wednesday, March 9, 2022, after a period of declining health.
Robert, born March 8th 1951, in Worcester, he was the son Paul T. and Jeannette G. (Messier) Russell. Raised and educated here, Robert joined the U.S. Army, serving proudly a Veteran of the Vietnam War. Upon return to Worcester and discharge Robert embarked on a many year career as a long-haul route driver, notably a multi-Car carrier for Sterry Street Transportation before retiring.
Robert is survived by his companion, Jean Denham; two sons, Robert “Rob” Russell, Jr. and his partner, Christine Clemence of Willington CT., and Marc S. Russell of Stafford CT: two sisters, Judith Jones of Spencer, Janet Vertefeuille and her husband Raymond Healy of Millbury; a grandson he was so proud of and loved dearly, Connor; nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends around the country.
Robert was a proud U.S. Army Vietnam veteran and proud patriot of his service to his country. He was a member of the Dudley-Gendron VFW post, also an avid Golfer, enjoying each round he could play and any course he could get on, riding motorcycles namely Harley Davidsons, the beaches of Florida and the Ocean. Robert also enjoyed NASCAR and proud of his sons, involvement in racing of all levels.
Calling hours for Robert will be held, Wednesday, March 16, 2022, from 4 pm to 7 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. His funeral service will be held Thursday, March 17th at 11 am in the funeral home followed by burial with military honors in Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton
