Robert N. Scott, Jr., 83, of Worcester, died Wednesday, June 22, 2022, at UMASS – Memorial Medical Center, University Campus, with his family by his side. Robert is survived by his wife of 40 years, Julie (Ford) Scott; two sons, Richard Scott and Andrew Scott, both of Worcester; three grandchildren and five nieces and nephews. Robert was predeceased by his parents, Robert and Mary (McDermott) Scott, and his sister Suzanne Kennedy.
Robert was born in Pittsburgh, PA and has lived in Worcester since 1979. He was a 1956 graduate of Saint James School in Hagerstown, MD. After a year at the Citadel, he graduated from Leicester Junior College in Leicester, MA in 1959 with a degree in Business.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War Era.
Robert had a long career in business as an inventory control manager at various area electrical supply and distribution companies, including Graybar, Coghlin, Central and Ostrow, prior to his retirement in 2010. During retirement, you could find him as a courtesy driver for Harr Motors, a greeter at Home Depot and a volunteer at St Vincent Hospital. He was also a man of faith, serving as an active parishioner of Christ the King Church.
Robert was a member of the color guard, the Senior Vice Commander and Past Commander of the Tatnuck American Legion Post 288, a long-time Notary Public and a 25-year baseball coach/manager for the Jesse Burkett Little League.
Aside from his family and faith, Robert was an avid sports lover and fan of all Pittsburgh teams.
Calling hours are Monday, June 27, 2022, from 4 to 6pm at DIRSA – MORIN Funeral Home, 298 Grafton St., Worcester. The funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, June 28, 2022, at 10:30am in Christ the King Church, 1052 Pleasant St., Worcester. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Robert’s memory may be made to Veteran’s Inc, 69 Grove St., Worcester, MA., 01605.
