Robert I. Moon, 88, passed away Mon. March 26, 2018 at Overlook Healthcare in Charlton, surrounded by his loving family after a long illness. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Doris (Piette) Moon in 2003.
He is survived by his son, Mark and his wife Lisa (Charest) Moon of Whitinsville, his daughter Laurie (Moon) Zukowski and son-in-law William Zukowski of Spencer; 6 grandchildren, David Zukowski, Stefanie Natale, Alexa “Zoey” Zukowski, and Kyle, Ethan, and Jacob Moon; 3 great-grandchildren, Thomas and Jillian Zukowski, and Kaitlyn Natale; several nieces, nephews, and friends. He was predeceased by 2 sisters, Kathryn Johnson, and Ruth Spahl. Bob was born in Worcester on June 27, 1929 to Herbert and Lela (Beesmer) Moon. He proudly served his country in the U.S Army Military Police. He retired from Mass Electric Co. (now National Grid) after 33 years. After retiring he started working for Wolf Coach picking up and delivering their vans around the country.
Bob was a devout family man who never missed his children’s activities. He faithfully brought his family to the beach on summer vacations for years even though he was not a beach fan himself. Bob enjoyed bowling, and was a great cribbage player. But the biggest joy he had was playing golf with his friends and winning championships at Pine Ridge in Oxford. After moving to Whitinsville he joined Blissful Meadows CC.
Bob loved watching his children grow up, get married and having kids of their own. He supported them every step of the way. When the grandchildren were born it was a whole new life for Bob. He enjoyed spending time with all his grandchildren from going to sporting events and loved to teach them cribbage and mostly life’s lessons. Bob’s last joy in his life came when he got to spend time with his newest great-grandchild Kaitlyn Natale. It was also said if Bob loved you he would kid with you and make you part of the family like he did from day one with Lisa and Bill. He will always be loved and greatly missed.
His family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the staff at Overlook for the exemplary care and love they provided to Bob, and the support they showed his family. God Bless them for their kindness.
Bob’s family invites all to attend his graveside funeral service, with full military honors, it will be held on Thurs. April 12, 2018, starting promptly at 11am in Worcester County Memorial Park Cemetery, 217 Richards Ave., Paxton. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to: The Overlook Attn: Fund Development, 88 Masonic Home Rd., Charlton.
