Subscription Update Obituary

     Robert E. Larocque, 75, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Monday, December 31, 2018. He was born in Worcester, the son of Edward J. and Anna M. (Salus) Larocque and had lived in Holden the past 48 years.

He leaves his loving wife of 55 years, Kathleen L. (Watts) Larocque; two daughters, Patricia A. Wood of Shrewsbury and Michelle S. Gauthier her husband, Roger of Holden; three grandchildren, Robert, Katherine and Timothy Gauthier; his brother-in-law, Roger Watts and his wife, Jean; and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son-in-law, Christopher J. Wood.

Bob graduated from St. John’s High School in 1960 and earned a Bachelor and a Master’s degrees in English and History from Worcester State College. He was a teacher for the Worcester Public Schools where he taught for 39 years, most recently at Burncoat Senior High School, where he taught for 33 of those 39 years. Bob enjoyed vacationing with his family at Seabrook Beach and Walt Disney World. He enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, attending plays, cheering for the New England sports teams, especially the Patriots and traveling to concerts which included Woodstock in the summer of 1969.

Bob’s family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation for the care and compassion provided by Dr. David Shepro and his team at Eaton Place Oncology as well as the nurses and staff of the JHC Hospice in Worcester.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, January 3rd in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden. Funeral services for Robert will be held on Friday, January 4th with an 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary’s Church, 114 Princeton Street, Jefferson. A private committal service will held at Worcester County Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his memory to St. John’s Church Food for the Poor Program, 44 Temple Street, Worcester, MA 01604, or the Wachusett High School Drama Club in honor of his grandson Timothy Gauthier class of 2019.
