Robert D. “Butch” Burdick and Shirley E. (Erickson) Burdick passed away within days of each other. Butch and Shirley were looking forward to celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary on February 26, 2022. They have known each other since grade school. During the end of the 60s they found love or love found them. They complimented one another very well and shared each other’s passions . Together they built a home from the ground up. They were avid gardeners and loved spending time at home working together in the yard. They took a lot of pride within their community. If they weren’t volunteering, they were helping family and friends.
Robert D. “Butch” Burdick, 69, passed away on February 11, 2022. Butch was born in Northbridge, MA. He was predeceased by his parents George and Eleanor M. Burdick. He is predeceased by his sisters, Susan Dedham, Denise Williams and Gina Burdick, as well as a brother George. He leaves behind three sisters, Christine Grady, Georgene Burdick and Karen Burdick; a brother, Steven Burdick; many nieces, nephews, good friends as well as numerous Godchildren.
Butch was a carpenter working both non-union and union jobs, retiring from the Carpenter’s Local 107. Butch was a true patriot and loved his country. He also enjoyed talking about politics. He loved fishing and spending time building garden decorations and bird houses. He was a master mechanic at so many different levels. He could take on any task to completion. He would spend many hours in his garage with his music cranked, whistling. There was no music you couldn’t find in his collection. Butch was a true motorhead from working on his 1934 Ford Coupe and his Harley Davidson motorcycle to watching Nascar racing on TV. Both Butch and Shirley spent many summer evenings going to car shows together. The world has lost one of the best of the best.
Shirley E. (Erickson) Burdick, 70, passed away on February 15, 2022. Shirley was born in Worcester, MA. She was predeceased by her parents Hjalmar and Adeline Erickson. She is predeceased by her brothers John Erickson, David Erickson, Bruce Erickson, George Erickson, and also her sister Charlotte Senay. Shirley leaves behind her sister Ellen Landry and her husband Paul. The many nieces, nephews and Godchildren were very near and dear to her heart. She always had a special place in her heart for children.
Shirley was very passionate of beauty and beautiful things. She collected antique Valentines and enjoyed showing them at tea rooms, educating others of their history. She took many classes and earned certificates in Photography and Floral Design at Tower Hill, where she and Butch spent many days. She was also a member of the Holden Grange #78.
In 1999 Shirley retired from Digital as Project Specialist Technician to take care of her aging mother. After the passing of her mother in 2001 she began working as a caregiver for the elderly. She became close with most of her clients and would go above and beyond to care for them. Shirley loved with her whole heart and was loved by so many. There is no other like her.
May Shirley and Butch rest peacefully. The funeral will be private at the convenience of the family.
