Subscription Update Obituary

   Robert C. Hohler, 81, of Bartlett St., passed away peacefully on Monday, October 13, 2008. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Alice (Walsh) Hohler; his children Robert A. Hohler and his wife Donna of Webster, Wayne A. Hohler and his wife Anita of South Yarmouth, and Deborah M. Ayers and her husband Ted of Norwich, CT; three sisters, Bernice Hohler, Phyllis Hohler and Marjorie Mercier all of Worcester; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and four nieces. He was predeceased by a sister Betty Chute.

   Mr. Hohler was born in Worcester, son of the late Robert and Ruth (Nelson) Hohler.

   He graduated from Worcester Boys Trade School in 1943. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Following his service, he worked as a machinist at U.S. Envelope in Worcester, retiring in 1997. Afterwards, he passed along his passion for photography as the Sales Manager in the Camera Dept. of the Fair. His pastimes included woodworking and playing both the keyboard and guitar while Alice sang. He always enjoyed a good history book, specifically of the biblical times. He was a member of the VFW Post 5663 and of the First Baptist Church in Worcester; where he could often be found volunteering and teaching Sunday school.

   A funeral will be held on Friday, October 17, 2008, at 11:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church, 111 Park Ave., Worcester. Burial will follow at Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours are Thursday, October 16, 2008, from 5-8 p.m. at Paradis Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
