Rita M. (Foley) Mullins, 73, of Shady Oaks in Arundel Maine and formerly of Holden and Rutland, passed away peacefully September 2, 2023, at the Rose Monahan Hospice Home in Worcester, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was predeceased by her husband, Paul F. Mullins, in 2017 whom she lovingly cared for during Paul’s cancer illness.
Rita leaves her children: Paul F. Mullins Jr. and wife April, of Shrewsbury, Kevin M. Mullins of Worcester, Phillip M. Mullins and wife Robyn of Princeton, and Maryellen B. Mullins of Worcester; her grandchildren: Lindsay, Kaitlyn, Connor, Janey, Jacob, Seth, Liam, Danica, and Madelyn. Relatives: Pamela, Stephan & Benjamin Williams, Patricia & Jacquelyn Kasper, David & Marianne Mullins. She was predeceased by her parents Robert B. and Catherine E. (Curnin) Foley, her brother Thomas Foley, sisters, Margaret Fay, Geraldine Elmer and Kathleen Johnson.
Rita was born, raised, and educated in Cherry Valley- Leicester. She established her career at the Odd Fellows Home in Worcester, where she loved being a certified nurse assistant and caregiver to her patients, retiring in 2012 after over 30 years of dedication. Paul and Rita married in July of 1968 and established homes in Massachusetts and eventually retiring in Arundel Maine where they became proud “Mainers”.
Rita was dedicated to being a supportive, loving mother and grandmother. During the years after her husband Paul passed, she found peace in living independently and growing her faith. She treasured her days beginning with a good cup of coffee and watching the EWTN network daily mass, 7 days a week.
Rita’s family would like to show their appreciation to the loving staff of the Maine Medical System and the staff of the Rose Monahan Hospice Home for their compassionate and exceptional care. We would also like to thank the team at Shady Oaks in Arundel, ME; Norm, Debbie and Tom for their friendship and care of Rita over the years. Thanks also to the friendship of over 50 years to Ken Roberts of Millbury, MA
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Rose Monahan Hospice Home, 10 Judith Road, Worcester, MA 01602. Services are private under the care of Miles Funeral Home.
