Rita “Nana” Day was forever reunited with the love of her life Jimmy “Papa” Day on October 27, 2021.  Spending their married life in Leicester, the couple strove to raise their family on the values of humility, unquestionable kindness, and a strong sense of humor, even in the most difficult of times.  These are the fundamental principles of a fulfilling life that their family continues to carry with them every day.

Rita leaves behind a large and caring family: Julieann Preston and husband Roy of Gloucester, Jim Day and wife Melissa of Leicester, Tom Day and wife Sherrie of Auburn, Kevin Day and his life partner Kristi of West Boylston, Sandy Day-Canovas and her husband Pedro of North Brookfield.  She leaves behind her brother Al Densmore and his wife Charlene of Florida.  Rita had two younger sisters who predeceased her, Marie Brown and Carol Davis.  She also leaves a substantial amount of grandchildren who loved her unconditionally: Brenden, Marisa, and Kali Day, Ash Shawn, Thomas, Sam, and Tristen Day, Lauren Casey, and Tim Preston and his fiancé Michaela Hicks, Diego Canovas, and two great-grandchildren Elliot and Emma Preston.

Rita will forever be remembered for her continuous selflessness throughout the course of her life and her ability to always help, without question, anyone in need.  She had a heart of gold and a beautiful soul that will live on through her family.

Private funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Shaw-Majercik Funeral Home.
