Subscription Update Obituary

     Richard S. Minor, 71, of Douglas, passed away suddenly Monday, April 3, 2017.

Richard is survived by his wife of 47 years, M. Bonnie (Brosnihan) Minor of Worcester; two sons, Richard P. Minor and his wife Melissa and their children: Madison, Molly and Maizey; Colin S. Minor and his wife Debra and their children, Nathan and Ryan.  He also leaves many cousins and friends.

Richard was the son of the late Dr. Stephen R. Minor and Margaret (Murray) Minor and was born in Summit, New Jersey. He graduated from Assumption Preparatory School, Worcester Jr. College and College of the Holy Cross.  During the Vietnam War, Richard served our country in the United States Navy aboard the USS Voge and USS Cascade attaining the rank of Lieutenant.  He continued on with the U.S. Naval Reserve in Worcester, honorably discharged in 1982, having received many honors and decorations. During his time in the service Richard worked with disabled Vietnam Veterans at the Jamaica Plain Medical Complex in Massachusetts.  He also served time in the Pentagon.  After retirement, Dick worked for FTI in Linwood, MA

Per Dick’s request a private funeral will be held with his immediate family. He will be laid to rest alongside his parents in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton.  The MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St is honored to assist the family with arrangements.   Memorial remembrances in Dick’s name can be made to Why Me & Sherry’s house 1152 Pleasant St Worcester, Ma 01602.
