Richard A. “Dick” Curboy, 84, of Auburn, passed away on Sunday, December 19, 2021 at Webster Manor Health Care Facility. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Doris Roberts Curboy, in 2011.
Born January 2, 1937, in Southbridge, to the late Patrick “Henry” Curboy and Helen (Pietrus) Curboy. The family moved to Sturbridge several years later. Dick graduated from Cole Trade High School in Southbridge and became a talented draftsman, later working for Rice Barton Company in Worcester and Riley Stoker Company as a design draftsman. After high school, Dick proudly enlisted and served in the U.S. Air Force; he was stationed in Saudi Arabia and other locales.
Dick was a championship archer and past member of the Hamilton Rod and Gun Club. He was also an avid bow hunter and loved being out in the woods, whether it be hunting, fishing, or just taking a walk. Bowling was another passion; he had achieved a 260 average at the Auburn 10 Pin Lanes until shoulder surgery forced him to leave the league.
Dick leaves his brother, Ronald Curboy and his wife Rose Ann, of Jupiter, FL; his step-son, Peter Roberts and his wife Cindy, of Charlton; a granddaughter, Courtney Hartl and her husband Matt, of Bridgewater, CT; a grandson, Jonathan Roberts, of Charlton; and a great-granddaughter, Avert Hartl. He is also survived by his niece, Deborah (Curboy) Blaisure and her husband Tim, of Corning, IO, and their three children and five grandchildren; and first cousins, Dora (Curboy) Rouse, of Boxford, MA, Bob Curboy, of Lake Mary, FL, and Terry (Pack) Menard, of Silver Springs, MD. Dick was also predeceased by his parents, Henry and Helen Curboy.
Dick will be missed by family, friends, along with the residents and staff of Webster Manor. His family would like to express their appreciation for the staff of Webster Manor for their care, guidance, and support during his stay.
