Raymond Thomas Ethier, 85 of Mt. Pleasant Ave., Leicester died Saturday, Jan. 12 in St. Vincent Hospital, Worcester.
He leaves his wife of 62 years, Mary T. (Moore) Ethier, his three daughters, Patricia A. Marino of Oxford, Rosemary Wolanski and her husband Richard Wolanski, Sr. of Leicester with whom he lived, and Margaret “Peg” Erickson and her husband Mel of Spencer, two brothers Richard Ethier and his wife Dot of Oxford, and Robert Ethier and his wife Marilyn of W.Boylston, 9 grandchildren; Regina, Kristina and Joseph Mandella, Stephanie Forrester, Richard Wolanski, Jr., Kathleen Soden, Mathew, Nicholas and Daniel Tolman, 11 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his daughters Mary Ellen and Regina Ethier, and brother Joseph O. Ethier and sister Lorraine Koronkevich.
Ray was a wholesale tire salesman for 41 years at Ken Jones Tire, Inc. in Worcester before retiring in 1989.
Born in Worcester, he was the son of Joseph and Mary (LaFontaine) Ethier. He attended Leicester Schools and later proudly served his country during WWII in the U.S. Navy stationed on the USS Kearsarge.
He was a member of St. Joseph-St. Pius X Parish, the Leicester Knights of Columbus-Council 4528 (Life member), and the Disabled American Veterans-Worcester Chapter.
He was a very loving and honorable man who enjoyed fly tying, fishing, hunting and boating. The family wishes to acknowledge and thank all of his caretakers, especially; Betty, Mike, Consuella, Candy and Nellie.
The funeral will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 16 from the MORIN – MORRISON FUNERAL HOME, 1131 Main St., Leicester with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Pius X Church, 1153 Main St., Leicester. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours are Tuesday, Jan. 15 from 5 to 7pm. in the funeral home.
