Subscription Update Obituary

     Pearl ( Takvorian) Harutunian, passed away peacefully at her daughters home on Tuesday, March 20, 2018. She was 93.

She was the wife of the late Vahan Harutunian who died in 1984.

Pearl was born in Lawrence, Ma on April 7, 1924 a daughter of Armenian immigrants, Krikor and Ashkhen (Mossessian) Takvorian. She attended Worcester Girls Trade School where she graduated Class of 1942.

Mrs. Harutunian began working at Vellomuid Gasket Company before beginning a 30 year career with Shacks Clothing in Worcester, where she dressed some of the most prominent men in Worcester and NYC. Pearl was an avid poker player and enjoyed getting together each week with her girlfriends to play. Mrs. Harutunian also loved bingo, trips to the casino and reading, but her true passion was baking and cooking Armenian dishes. Above all family was the most important to her and she cherished time spent with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She leaves behind many that will miss her dearly including her daughter, Joanne Cranston and her husband, Mark; a son, David Harutunian, her grandchildren, Stephen, Amanda and Ashley and great grandchildren Oona and Greta; two brothers, Paul and Seth Aslanian; her sisters, Rose Aslanian, and Agnes Sagerian and nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband, she is predeceased by three brothers, George Arslanian, Arthur Takvorian and John Aslanian.

Mrs. Harutunian’s family wishes to thank the VNA Care Hospice and Palliative care for the tremendous care that they provided to her during her illness.

Family and friends will honor, remember and celebrate Pearl’s wonderful life by gathering on Monday, March 26th at the Armenian Church of Our Savior, 87 Salisbury St., Worcester, from 10:00am until 11:00am. A Funeral Service will follow at 11:00am. Burial will take place at Worcester County Memorial Park. The Callahan, Fay & Caswell Funeral Home, 61 Myrtle St., Worcester is assisting the family with arrangements.

The family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Armenian Church of Our Saviour, 87 Salisbury St., Worcester, MA 01609
