Subscription Update Obituary

Paul W. “Dino” Dean, 68, of Worcester, a retired Sergeant with the Mass Dept of Correction, passed away in the comfort of his home on Tuesday, December 28, 2021, surrounded by his loving family.

Dino is survived by his loving wife and best friend of forty-eight years, Sandra J. (Gilbert) Dean; two sons, Kevin G. Dean and his wife Crystal of Worcester and George W. Dean and his wife Malarie of Sturbridge; his mother, Harriet A. (Forsberg) Dean of Chester, VT; two sisters, Elaine Wrubel of Chester, VT and Sharon Flynn of Worcester; eight grandchildren, Amanda, Ashley, Dylan, Dalton, Skylar, Alyssa, Deanna, and Mason; six great grandchildren; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Kevin and Allen Dean. He was born in Holden, son of the late, George W. “Big Dad” Dean and has lived all his life in Worcester.

Dino retired from the Massachusetts Department of Corrections in 2004 as a sergeant; his career spanned thirty-two years, at correctional facilities in Walpole, Norfolk, Gardner, and Shirley. He was also a firearms instructor for region 3 within the DOC and was part of the Norfolk Tactical Unit.

Dino was a tremendous Green Bay Packers Fan and “shareholder” since 1996; he loved baseball and the Boston Red Sox. He enjoyed bowling, race cars, and golfing. He worked part time at Greenhill Golf Club and C.A.P on West Boylston Street in Worcester. Dino was dedicated to his family and loved to be with them.

Calling Hours will be on Monday, January 3, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester. His Funeral will be on Tuesday, January 4, from the funeral home, departing in procession at 9:40 a.m. for a 10 a.m. Funeral Mass at Saint Bernard’s Church of Our Lady of Providence Parish, 228 Lincoln Street, Worcester. Interment will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton.
