Subscription Update Obituary

     Patricia A. (Doherty) DiBenedetto, 77, passed away on Friday, February 17, 2012 surrounded by her loving family. Her beloved husband of 57 years, John S. “Johnny Dee” DiBenedetto, died this past May.
     She leaves her son, John J. DiBenedetto and former wife Cheryl; her daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Paul Cotter of Paxton; grandchildren, Robert, Jeannine, Sheena-Rae, and Paul; great-grandchildren, Tyler and Toni-Lynne; sister-in-law ‘Dolly’ DiPino and husband Antonio, brother-in-law Anthony DiBenedetto and wife Vera, nieces, Donna Doherty and Catherine Doherty-Mott; nephews, Donald and Paul Doherty, ‘Sis’ Eleanor Philips and many cousins, her dear friends, Mary Proia, Mary DiLiddo, Beverly Anthony, Ruth McCauley, Fred Potenti, along with the Borgatti, Bousquet, Hughes, and Proia families, the many co-workers of Spag’s and friends of Bill W. Patty also leaves many wonderful neighbors and her beloved dog, Boo Boo Bear. Her brother Donald Doherty predeceased her.
     Patricia was born in Shrewsbury, daughter of Pearl (Adams) and Patrick Doherty. She was a graduate of Shrewsbury High School and Salter Secretarial School. She was a 40-year member and sponsor of Alcoholics Anonymous. She was a member of Our Lady of the Rosary. Patty was a devoted wife and supported her husband “Johnny Dee” throughout his career.
     The family wishes to acknowledge Dr. Gerald Gleich and his staff for providing years of wonderful care, the staff of UMASS Memorial Campus, and UMASS Hospice for the compassionate and outstanding care given.
     Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours at Nordgren Memorial Chapel 300 Lincoln Street Monday, Feb. 20, 2012 from 4-7 p.m. The funeral will be held Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2012 from Nordgren Memorial Chapel with a 10:30 a.m. Mass at Our Lady of the Rosary, 25 Fales Street. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton.
     In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Worcester Animal Rescue League, 139 Holden St., Worcester, MA 01606.
