Subscription Update Obituary

Nils Alfred "Freddy" Johnson, 71 of 103 Rodney Street was stricken ill and died Sunday while driving his car in Leicester.  Born in Ashland, he was the son of the late Nils T. and Edith (Carlson) Johnson.  A machinist at Olson Manufacturing for many years, he retired in 1980.  A U.S. Army veteran, he served in the 100th Infantry in France and Germany during World War II.  He was a life member and past Commander of Victor Quaranta Post of the American Legion, Shrewsbury, and a past Commander of the 40/8 Post 1113. 

Mr. Johnson was a charter member of Trinity Lutheran Church, where he was an usher for many years.  He was also a member of the Scandivanvian Athletic Club, Quinsigamond Lodge of the Vasa Order of America, as well as a friend of the Belmont Community Association and the Rutland Hospital. 

He is survived by two brothers, Theodore of Worcester and Edwin (Hazel) of Westborough, five sisiters, Virginia (Norman) Leach of Auburn, Mildred (Gunnar) Robertson of Worcester, Dorothy Klap of Lutz, Florida, Barbara (Donald) Walne of Oxford and BettyAnn Campbell of Tallahassee, Florida, his godson, James Reece of Rockford, Illinois as well as many nieces and nephews.  Predeceased by his sisters Alice (James) Reece of Auburn and Pauline (Chester) Stukowski  of Worcester.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. tomorrow in Trinity Lutheran Church, 73 Lancaster St., Worcester.  The Rev. Paul Kennedy will officiate.  Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. The family requests that flowers be omitted.  Memorials may be made to the Trinity Lutheran Church Endowment Fund.
