Subscription Update Obituary

     Nicola Galante, 79, died Monday, April 22, 2019 at the Wachusett Manor in Gardner after an illness.

He leaves his wife, Regina (DiVico) Galante; two daughters, Maria Moore and her husband Scott of Hubbardston and Linda Guarino and her husband Robert of Framingham; one son, Nicola Galante of Hubbardston: five grandchildren, Amanda Audette, Christopher Moore, Robby Guarino, Anthony Guarino and Domenic Guarino; one great-grandson, Owen Audette; three brothers, John Galante of Mansfield and Rocco Galante and Louis Galante both of Watertown; one sister, Lidia Cutone of Watertown and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

He was predeceased by a brother, Graziano Galante.

Nicola was born in Filetto Abruzzo, a Providence of Chieti, Italy, on September 1, 1939, a son of the late Antonio and Maria (DiRico) Galante. He worked as a construction foreman at Massachusetts General Hospital for over 40 years.

Nicola enjoyed working in his garden, cooking homemade meals, making wine and making homemade sausage. He loved Italian music and especially loved Dean Martin’s music. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Calling hours will be in the Westminster Chapel of the Sawyer-Miller-Masciarelli Funeral Homes, 123 Main Street, Westminster, MA 01473 on Sunday, April 28, 2019 from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. followed by a funeral service at 4:00 p.m. in the funeral home.

Interment will be private in the Worcester Memorial Park, 217 Richard Avenue, Paxton, MA 01612

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to either the Alzheimer’s Association, 309 Waverly Oaks Road, Waltham, MA 02452 or the American Parkinson’s, 72 East Concord Street, Boston, MA 02118.
