Subscription Update Obituary

     Michael P. Thomas, 90, of Worcester, died peacefully Thursday, March 6, 2014 at the Beaumont Nursing Center.

     He leaves his beloved wife of 48 years, Jacquelyn A. (Kilpatrick) Thomas; three children, Christina M. Moquin of Worcester, Timothy N. Thomas of Belchertown, and Amy B. Gustafson and her husband Robert of Oxford; four grandchildren, Melissa Rio, Christopher Harshaw, Sean Thomas and Robert W. Gustafson; four great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

     He was born in Worcester, the last surviving of the eight children of Nicholas and Bessie (Tatsi) Thomas. He graduated from the former Commerce High School and Worcester Junior College.

     Mr. Thomas was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was soldier in Gen. George Patton’s Third Army that won some of the most decisive European battles of the war.

     Mr. Thomas was a truck driver for many years for Quality Sea Foods on Cambridge Street.

     He was a member of Our Lady of the Angels Parish.

     Michael will always be remembered for his devotion to God, his family and his country.

     There will be a calling hour Monday, March 10, from 9 to 10 a.m. at the Athy Memorial Home, 111 Lancaster St., Worcester. The funeral Mass will follow at 11 a.m. in Our Lady of the Angels Church, 1222 Main St., Worcester. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton.

     In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Our Lady of the Angels Building Fund.
