Michael J. Morrissey, 60, went home to the Lord on February 7, 2024, in his home surrounded by his family. Mike belonged to the family of God, the Catholic Church, where he received God made man in the Holy Eucharist as his daily bread, and this was Mike’s greatest joy.

He is survived by his wife Ann Marie; his children, Daniel, Katie and Noah, Kimberly and Ethan, Jeffrey, and Jennie; his 3 brothers, John of North Fort Myers, Florida, David of Auburn, MA, and Stephen of North Brookfield, MA; many in-laws, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, a large extended family, and many brothers and sisters in Christ.

Mike was born in Worcester, son of wonderful parents, the late John William and Marguerite Mary Morrissey. He graduated from Burncoat High School in Worcester in 1981. Mike was a devoted husband for 34 years and a loving father. He worked as a computer consultant.

Mike was a “revert” to the Catholic faith.  Throughout his childhood he was exposed to the faith, but he did not believe most of it. He believed in God but did not understand the significance of the Catholic Church. He prayed a lot, but most especially prayed to know the truth about Jesus in the Holy Eucharist. He read the Bible many times through. He also read many works of the Doctors of the Church, as well as many other Catholic books to gain knowledge of the faith.

It wasn’t until, in one pivotal moment of grace, as a result of many heartfelt prayers, God made sense of all Mike’s uncertainties and doubts. About 15 years ago, Mike had a sudden “Saul to Paul” conversion.  From that moment forward he was convicted of the truth of the Real Presence of Jesus’ Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity in the Holy Eucharist and all the teachings of the holy Catholic Church. He wished to spend the rest of his life loving God and building up His Church. His greatest joy became Christ the Lord, truly present in the Most Holy Eucharist. Mike heard the Lord tell him interiorly to attend daily Mass and to say the daily rosary. Mike enjoyed spending time alone with the Lord in adoration and had a desire for all his family and friends to know, love and serve the Lord.

So, lay aside anything and everything that is hindering you from coming closer to Christ and His Church so that you may embark on the joy and adventure of a lifetime. Love is the desire of our hearts and God is that infinite love in Whom we seek, right there in the Holy Eucharist of the Catholic Church.

“Let us rid ourselves of every burden and sin that clings to us and persevere in running the race that lies before us while keeping our eyes fixed on Jesus, the leader and perfecter of faith. For the sake of the joy that lay before him he endured the cross, despising its shame, and has taken his seat at the right of the throne of God.” (Hebrews 12:1-2)

The funeral will be held on Monday, February 12, 2024, from Paradis-Givner Funeral Home, 357 Main Street, Oxford, with a Mass at 10:00 AM at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 18 East Main Street, Webster. Burial will follow at Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton.

Calling hours at the funeral home are Sunday, February 11, 2024, from 1:00 to 4:00 PM.
