Subscription Update Obituary

Michael J. Hubbard died on Sunday, Sept. 10, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Michael was the son of the late Mary and Leonard "Squash" Hubbard. He leaves his wife of 18 years, Patricia Alex Hubbard; a brother, John Hubbard and his wife Margaret of Grafton; twin sister, Martha Raphael and husband Norman of Westboro; brother David Hubbard and his wife Mary Patricia of West Boylston; 5 children, Christine Catanzaro and husband Jonathan of Millbury, Michael Jr. and wife Dorothy in Punta Gorda, Fl.; stepson Michael Payne-Alex and wife Tamara in San Jose, Ca.; stepson Jeffrey Alex in Toronto, Canada; stepson David Alex and his wife Angela of Rutland; as well as 7 wonderful grandchildren, plus several nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.

Michael retired as Dean of Students in 2005 from Bay Path Regional Vocational Technical High School in Charlton after 34 years as an Educator. He worked as a teacher, guidance counselor, Athletic Director and coach of various sports over his career. He also spent 14 years at Worcester Vocational High School.

Michael and his wife spent their spare time traveling and camping throughout the country. He also enjoyed fishing, golf, time with family, and acting in various plays at church. He always hoped he would be remembered as a positive influence, over the years, in the lives of thousands of teenagers.

A celebration of his life will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 16, in First Baptist Church, 111 Park Ave., Worcester. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park. Calling hours will be from 5-8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 15, in CASWELL- KING FUNERAL HOME, 474 Grove St., Worcester. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham 01701.
