Michael Arthur Shooshan, 82, of Worcester passed away Saturday, December 5th 2015 with his family gathered by his side.
Michael is survived by his wife of 44 years, Rosemarie C. (Notorangelo) Shooshan; his four devoted daughters, Bonnie Minardi and her husband Giancarlo of Sutton, Darlene Conte and her husband Angelo of Worcester, Wendy Hubbell and her husband Steven of Rutland, Eileen Fraioli and her husband Bernardo of Worcester; eight grandchildren he adored, Fabio, Amanda and Bianca Minardi, Giuliano and Simona Conte, Caitlin Hubbell, Adrianna and Dario Fraioli; his only sister, Carole Capalbo and her husband Robert; many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Michael was born in Worcester, the son of the late Avidus and Eva (Lombardi) Shooshan. He attended Worcester Public school, joining the U.S. Army during the Korean War, serving his country proudly.
Michael worked many years with his father in the family business “Joe the Hatter” on Thomas and Main Street in Worcester. He later worked for the Diocese of Worcester at the chancery for over 5 years.
Michael was a member of Our Lady of Mt Carmel Church. A member and past president of the Lions Club of Worcester. Michael was an avid Boston Celtics and New York Yankees fan. On most mornings, Michael could be found at the Dunkin Donuts on Shrewsbury Street having coffee and spirited conversation with friends. He loved growing his garden filled with tomato’s.
Friends and relatives are invited to calling hours Wednesday December 9th from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. His funeral will be held Thursday, December 10th from the funeral home with a procession to Our Lady of Mt Carmel Church, 24 Mulberry St. where his Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 am. Burial with Army Honors will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton. The Shooshan family would like to especially thank the Beacon Hospice especially Megan for the care comfort and compassion they gave to Michael.
