Mellicent “Millie” Bernard, 95 of Pleasant Street, Worcester passed away peacefully on Saturday after a brief illness.

A graduate of South High School, Millie followed her dream of nursing and completed her RN at the Henry Heywood School of Nursing in 1950. Her long career included roles as OR Nurse, OR Supervisor, and Night Supervisor at Henry Heywood Memorial and Fairlawn Hospitals. She later worked for several Worcester-area surgeons.

Millie was a parishioner and volunteer at St. Luke’s Church for over 60 years. She remained vibrant and active throughout her life, with a particular love for reading, puzzles and working outdoors.

Millie is survived by her beloved sons, Jack from Arlington, MA and Gary from Framingham, MA, and her cherished daughters-in-law, Heidi and Kristine. Her family kindly requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to a charity of your choice in her memory.

Her funeral will be held on Friday, November 22nd with a service at 12:00 p.m. in O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue. Burial will follow at Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday in the funeral home.
