Matt J. Perno, 74, of Worcester died suddenly on Monday, October 28th. He is survived by his siblings, Gary D. Perno of Worcester, June Salminen and her husband, Richard and Cheryl Tereba both of Worcester and Boynton Beach, FL; and Jean Peters, with whom he enjoyed a loving relationship of 9 years as well as two nieces and a nephew.

He was born in Worcester, the son of Matteo and Grace (Kasperian) Perno. Matt was a graduate of Doherty Memorial High School, and later Norwich University with a major in History. He had been employed as a systems analyst in the computer industry before retiring. Proud of his Italian and Armenian heritage he was particularly fascinated in the study of Armenian history and culture; sharing this knowledge with his family kept the family proud and connected. Matt excelled at softball and had played shortstop for 20 years for many Worcester teams. His love of animals defined him. He enjoyed competing against his sisters in Jeopardy, gaining great delight when winning. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

His funeral will be Thursday, November 7th from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue with his funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. in Blessed Sacrament Church 555 Pleasant Street. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park. Paxton. Calling hours are Thursday from 9:30 until 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home.
