Mary T. (Gully) Donahue, 83, died Wednesday, February 3, 2021 at the Saint Francis Home after a courageous battle with Dementia and finally Covid 19.
She was such a wonderful, vibrant, kind and funny woman. She could lighten any mood, bring a smile to anyone’s face and will be missed by everyone who knew her.
She was born in Worcester, daughter of Irish emigrants, Richard and Mary (Doyle) Gully and graduated from St. Peter’s High School. Mary worked at Nissen Baking Company for several years before retiring. She was a longtime member of St. John’s Church and was a volunteer at the food pantry.
Mary’s greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren and watching them grow. Mary was very proud of her Irish heritage and loved her trips to Ireland. She also enjoyed visiting Ogunquit Beach in Maine and Cape Cod beaches.
Mary was predeceased by her husband of 52 years, Jack Donahue, Sr in 2014, and her brother Richard in 1999. She is survived by her son, Jack Donahue Jr., his wife Susan and their children, Daniel, John and his wife Christa, and Mary and her husband Carlos, all of Worcester. She also leaves her daughter Maureen Worley, her husband Alex of Clinton, CT and their children, Lauren, and Alex and his wife Sarah. Her sister and best friend is Margaret Fowler of Charlton. She also leaves four great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and relatives of the Donahue, Gully and Fowler families.
The family would like to thank the many caregivers whose personal touch made her final years so peaceful. Dodge Park Day Health, Homestead Hall and St Francis Home. Your work and many kindnesses were our family’s greatest blessing. Thank You.
Thank you to her niece Judy Fowler for guiding us all through the last several years with her love, wisdom and humor. And thank you to Hannah Morris for her selfless visits that bought her such joy.
