Mary Ellen (Nugent) Sheehan, 63, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 1, 2024 at St. Vincent Hospital surrounded by her loving family after a long illness. She leaves her husband of 40 years Michael F. Sheehan; a daughter Monica Hurst and her husband Christopher of Boxboro; a son William Sheehan and his wife, Dr. Maureen Hester of Sutton; a granddaughter Elizabeth; siblings Margaret Nugent and her partner Brian Meehan, Martin Nugent and his wife Nancy, Mark Nugent and his wife Tee, Michael Nugent, Matthew Nugent and his wife Andrea Hanses; a sister-in-law, Anne-Marie Sheehan; many nieces and nephews; and lifelong best friends, Lynn, Caroline, Becky and Christine. She was predeceased by her brother-in-law Bucky Sheehan.

Mary Ellen was born in Worcester, daughter of the late William and Helen (McGowan) Nugent. She graduated from Burncoat High School and worked as a dental assistant, cheerfully treating patients at the practices of Dr. Griffin, Dr. Allen, Dr. Witt, and most recently, Dr. Latino, before retiring due to illness. She was a member of Our Lady of the Rosary Church. Mary Ellen enjoyed vacationing in Maine, reading, backyard bird watching, visiting the beach, and summer evening fires. She had a gift for gab and loved fresh flowers, despite her brown thumb. She enjoyed shopping, loved hosting and was known for her legendary Christmas cookie trays. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends.

Mary Ellen’s family would like to thank the doctors and nurses of Tufts Medical Center, St. Vincent Hospital and the VNA, especially Dr. Filiberti, Julie, Dr. Ford, Dr. Verma, Justina and Dr. Farber for their compassionate care over the years.
