Mary E. (Bertone) Battelle, 69, of 140 Morningside Road died Sunday night in her home after a long illness.
She left her husband, Richard K. Battelle; a son, Richard P. Battelle of Litchfield, New Hampshire, who passed away on July 2, 2006; two daughters, Barbara E. Battelle of West Brattleboro, VT., who passed away just five months after Richard, and Michele M. Battelle of Sterling, MA; two sisters, Carmela A. Swearingen and Vera L. Lucivero, all of Worcester; nephews and nieces. She was born in Worcester, daughter of Pasquale F. and Annunziata M. (D'Elia) Bertone, and lived here all her life.
Mrs. Battelle graduated from the former Commerce High School. She was a cafeteria worker for 17 years in the city public school system, retiring in 1988.
Mrs. Battelle was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church and the American Association of Retired Persons.
The funeral was held from Louis Fazio & Sons Funeral Home, 9 Branch St., with a Mass at 10 a.m. in Blessed Sacrament Church, 555 Pleasant St. Burial was in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton.
