Mary D. Mason, 73, It is with great sadness that the family of Mary D Mason, of Spencer, share with sadness her passing after a short courageous battle with an illness. She succumbed to her sickness on May 11, 2022 in Memorial Hospital in Worcester, MA.
Born November 18, 1948 in Worcester, MA. She was the daughter of the late Joseph P Chakuas and the late Arlene (Duncan) Chakuas of Worcester, MA.
She worked from a very young age at Quaboag nursing home in West Brookfield, MA, O.C. White in Worcester, MA, and Hometown Chimney Cleaners of Worcester, MA. Among many other jobs she held over the years.
She died the same as she lived, with great strength and dignity. She will be greatly missed by all who knew this special lady.
She leaves her beloved wife and partner of 39 years, Sherrill (Sher) Morse with whom she lived; her son James A Mason & his wife Crystal Mason and their son Cody Walker of North Carolina; a step daughter Billy Jo Mason & her children; her grandson Brandon A Mason and his mother Melissa Chicoine of Warren MA. She is also survived by 2 brothers Joseph P Chakuas of Worcester MA and Steven Chakuas & his wife Shirley of Southbridge; 2 sisters Karen (Hannah) of Ware and Susan (Chakuas) Klama & her husband Kris of Worcester. She was predeceased by her youngest son John P Mason of Spencer; her late husband Wilmont “Bill” Mason of Spencer; 2 brothers Thomas Chakuas of San Francisco CA and Kevin Chakuas of New York City, New York.
Mary was a kind, gentle and loving soul. She overcame much adversity in her lifetime.
Along with her blood family, she leaves behind an extended family of friends who loved her very dearly.
Mary enjoyed reading, knitting, fishing, and spending time with loved ones. She was an avid fan of the Boston Bruins, the New England Patriots and the Boston Red Sox.
Her heart was as vast as the universe. If she loved you, she loved you for life. She will be sorely missed, leaving a hole in the hearts of all who loved her.

Following cremation a graveside service will be held in Worcester Memorial Park in Paxton. Arrangements are in the care of Pillsbury Funeral Home 163 Main St.Spencer MA.
