Martha Santom, 68, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, after a hard fought battle with cancer.

Martha was born in Worcester, Mass. on May 21, 1953, the daughter of late Henry and Angela Gorak. She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Stephen; her son Matthew Santom and his wife Kenina of Huntersville, N.C.; her daughter Meghan Marcello and her husband Ethan of Morrisville, N.C; her daughter Allison Mastrovito of Rutland; and her daughter Elizabeth Zenevitch and her husband Ryan of Worcester; and her two sisters, Francine Polissack and Diane Gorak, both of Worcester. She also leaves behind six granddaughters, all of whom were the light of her life: Charlotte and Ella Santom of Huntersville, N.C.; Mia and Sophie Marcello of Morrisville, N.C.; and Hannah and Harper Mastrovito of Rutland.

Martha worked for many years as a social worker, dedicating her life to helping others. But her true passion lied in her family, who was her pride and joy. She could often be found sharing pictures of her grandchildren and telling stories about them. She was the happiest and her heart was the fullest when she was with her family.

Martha will be remembered for her quick wit, one-of-a-kind personality, her sage and honest advice, her love, and most of all her tremendous courage and strength. Her family will miss her dearly.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, August 18th in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden. Funeral services for Martha will be held on Thursday, August 19th with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Mary’s Church, 114 Princeton Street, Jefferson. Burial will follow at Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton.
