Mark R. Casavant, 69 of Westminster, died Wednesday, June 15, 2022 in the University of Massachusetts Hospital – University Campus, Worcester.
He was born in Worcester on October 4, 1952, son of the late Roger Casavant and Anna (Tersa) Casavant.
Mark grew up in Westminster and graduated from Oakmont Regional High School with the class of 1970. Known as “Porky” in high school, Mark was a star running back for the Oakmont Spartans Football team.
Mark was a self-employed furniture designer and maker. As part owner of Country Home Furnishings he always appreciated and valued his employees. He cherished his family and always made time for his friends. Through the years he enjoyed many activities such as golfing, skiing, boating, and fishing but his favorite pastime was being a prankster. According to his children Mark was an honorable man. Humble and kind, gentle and strong, caring, compassionate and always supportive.
He is survived by his high school sweetheart, wife of 50 years, Sharon (Sweeney) Casavant; two sons, Marcus Casavant and his wife Amber of Fitzwilliam, NH, Zack Casavant of Westminster; three daughters, Tracy Casavant of Hubbardston, Thia Hamilton and her husband Chad of Baldwinville, Jessica Gadarowski and her husband Jesse, of Athol; one brother, John Casavant and his wife Linda of Northampton, MA; one sister, Cynthia Martin of Hubbardston; 15 grandchildren, one great grandchild and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, June 21, 2022 at 10:30 am in the Mack Family Funeral Home 105 Central St., Gardner. Burial will be private.
Calling hours will be held Monday June 20, 2022 from 5 to 7 pm in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial donations in Mark’s memory be made to your favorite cause.
