Mark Lee Bohanan, 59, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Wednesday, December 14, 2016.
Mark was born in Worcester on February 19, 1957 a son of the late David Bohanan and the late Alice (Varelli) Bohanan. He graduated from Sutton Memorial High School. After high school, Mark joined the US Marine Corps as an E-5 Communications Specialist. During his three years of Active Duty, Mark was the recipient of numerous awards and badges, including the honor of a Purple Heart. After his honorable discharge from the Marine Corps, Mark went on to study at WPI, where he earned his Bachelor’s of Arts & Science Degree in Applied Science and Mechanical Engineering. He then went on to earn his Master’s Degree in Matter Transport and Energy from Arizona State University.
Most recently, Mark worked as a tutor at Quinsigamond Community College in Worcester, assisting students in the areas of Math and Science studies. He loved flying model airplanes, playing guitar, long bow archery and cycling. Mark was also a talented artist, mostly enjoying drawing and painting.
Mark leaves behind his two daughters: Heather (Bohanan) Hannon and her husband Scott of Sutton and Elizabeth Bohanan of Sutton. He also leaves two grandchildren, his sister Sandra Calvo of Tracy, CA and her former husband Thomas, his nephews David & Derrick Calvo of San Jose, CA, his niece Deborah Calvo of San Jose, CA and his former wife Sandra Puchek of Sutton.
A Graveside Committal Service for Mark will be Friday, December 30, 2016 at 11AM at Worcester County Memorial Park, 217 Richards Avenue Paxton, MA. The family has requested to meet directly at the cemetery.
