Subscription Update Obituary

     Marie L. (Canzano) Wood, 77, of South Yarmouth, formerly of Worcester, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 9, 2014 in the Lutheran Home surrounded by her loving family.

Marie is survived by her loving husband of fifty-seven years, Frank E. Wood; her son, Frank E. Wood, Jr. and his wife Trish of Arizona; her daughter, Gail Sakaloglou and her husband George of Worcester; five grandchildren.

Marie was born in Worcester, the daughter of the late Worcester Fire Department Lieutenant Vincent and Josephine (Guiliano) Canzano. She graduated from Commerce High School and had lived there all her life until she moved to South Yarmouth in 2000. Marie worked for Worcester City Hospital as a Medical Transcriptionist for numerous years until she retired in 2000. She was a member of the former St. Margaret Mary’s Church and the Red Hat Society. Marie was a very creative person who loved working with her hands. She loved creating floral arrangements and arts and crafts projects.

Services for Marie will be held on Wednesday, January 15, 2014 from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester with a Mass at 10 am in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 24 Mulberry St. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. A period of calling hours will be held on Tuesday, January 14th from 4-7 pm in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in honor of Marie can be made to: Ovarian Cancer National Alliance, 901 E Street NW, Suite 405, Washington, DC 20004.
