Subscription Update Obituary

Luigi Tella Jr., 85, passed away Saturday, June 29th unexpectedly at UMASS Memorial Medical Center in Worcester. 

He leaves his wife of 61 years, Marlene Ann (Paquette) Tella, a daughter Melanie A. Tella and her husband, Bart Wilson of Millbury, a daughter Audra M. Tella of Millbury, a son, Matthew L. Tella of Millbury, a sister, Claire Desrosiers of Webster, a brother-in-law, John Fleming of Webster and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, James Michael Tella, a brother, Anthony Julio Tella and a sister, Ann (Tella) Fleming. He was born in Providence, Rhode Island, son of the late Luigi “Louis” and Lucy (D’Alessandro) Tella and has lived in Millbury for many years. 

He proudly served his country in the US Army as a Radar and Radio Repairman and earned a Good Conduct Medal. He attained his high school equivalency diploma and went on to graduate from Worcester Junior College and Clark University while working full-time and supporting his family. He was an accomplished finance professional with a career spanning 4 decades specializing in hospital finance. He was formerly a member of the Millbury Auxiliary Police force. Luigi loved spending time with his wife going to yard sales and flea markets, and he never passed up a “bargain.” He was an amateur photographer, funny, engaging and had the best stories. 

A graveside service will be held at Worcester County Memorial Park, 217 Richards Avenue in Paxton on Friday July 12th at 11 a.m. followed by a Mercy meal at Spicy Water Distillery 108 Elm Street in Millbury. 

The family would like to thank all the staff at DaVita Kidney Care on Glennie Street in Worcester and Fresenius Kidney Care in Sutton for providing excellent care and kindness during his dialysis treatments. Thank you to the staff of UMASS Memorial ICU unit for everything you did and your compassion during this hard time.
