Louise J. (Buchyn) Witz, age 85, passed away on Sunday, July 10, 2022, at UMass Medical Center – University Campus in Worcester. Born in Worcester, she was the daughter of the late Louis and Helena (Ivanoski) Buchyn.
Louise graduated from Commerce High School in Worcester. In her younger years, she enjoyed gardening and trips to the beach in Maine. She was proud of her tree she planted recently in memory of her daughter, Debbie. She also loved Mozart and opera and could be found singing with nurses at UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester, in what they unofficially called the “opera club”. Her son Wally brought her great joy and was very proud of him winning a gold medal in swimming at the Special Olympics.
Later in life, she found peace and comfort in religion, most recently at St. Mary’s Church in Jefferson. She was a gentle and caring woman who sought to share God’s love and compassion. She was able to accomplish that while caring for son Walter for 60 years. Her devotion to her faith was ever apparent in her love for God and prayer. Louise was a beautiful person to everyone she encountered and will be forever in our hearts.
Louise is survived by her son, David Raad and his wife, Pamela of North Grosvenordale, CT; a daughter, Jacqueline Parker and her husband, Richard of Foxboro; four grandchildren; a sister, Carol Gorski of Paxton; a cousin, Lucille Worley and her husband, Harry of Worcester; and her nephews, Michael, Barry Baroud and his wife, Paula and Steven Baroud. She is predeceased by her first husband, Walter Raad; her second husband, Robert Witz; her beloved son, Walter Raad, Jr.; her beloved daughter, Deborah Miller; her sister, Helena Baroud; her grandson, Joseph Raad; and her best friend, Mariana Cogswell.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Louise’s family from 9:00 am to 10:45 am on Tuesday, July 19th at Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:30 am at St. Mary’s Church, 114 Princeton St., Jefferson. Burial will be held at a later date. Flowers may be sent, or memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association Research Department online at https://www.alz.org/research?form=alz_donate.
