Linda V. (Nelson) Carlson Romano, 84, passed peacefully into the hands of her Lord and Savior on November 4, 2024.

Linda is the daughter of the late Nils O. Nelson and Helen (Yurkiewicz) Nelson. She graduated from Quinsigamond Community College Magna Cum Laude with a degree in business and went on to attend Worcester State University. In her senior years, she took courses in the wise program at Assumption College. She was employed for 9 years by Massachusetts Electric Company and worked as a legal administrative assistant at the law firm of Mirick/O’Connell for 38 years. She also taught business subjects for Worcester in their night school program.

Volunteering was a big part of Linda’s life first as a member of the Legion of Mary, and a volunteer at Worcester State Hospital. She especially loved volunteering for the VNA at Rose Monahan Hospice Center which she had done for the past several years. She was Secretary of Indian Hill Neighborhood Assoc.; a member of the Board of Trustees of Faith House (now community Healthlink) for 11 years. She served as secretary, volunteer program coordinator and President of the Board. Linda and her husband, Albert, were members of the Acorn Society of the Greater Worcester Community Foundation. Linda also served as a site volunteer for the Agency. She was a corporator of the YMCA and a member of the Heritage Society of the Y. She was also involved in Horizons for Homeless Children, a bereavement coordinator for Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, and thoroughly enjoyed her membership at Holden Towers Tennis Club and the Greendale Y.

She looked forward to the many trips she took with Al to Sarasota and Myrtle Beach where they enjoyed their timeshare, several trips to Aruba and many trips to Cape Cod. After Al’s death, Linda was embraced by the Romano-Cuddy family, and she loved the many weekends and vacations spent with them and their son, Jack, whom she adored.

Linda is preceded in death by her first husband Alden Carlson who passed away on Oct. 20, 1991, her second husband Albert J. Romano, Jr. who died on June 3, 2013, and her daughter Greta Hayden who died Nov. 11, 2011. Also predeceased by her son-in-law Brian Cuddy.

She leaves behind her daughter Paula Romano Cuddy of Milford; her beloved grandson Jack Cuddy of Milford; sister Paula Nicholson of Brewster; nieces and nephews, Heather Vaz and her husband Al, Todd Nicholson and his partner Rebecca, Heidi Nicholson; many close friends, including Nancy Jasgur, Linda and Arthur Norman, and several dear friends from her monthly Book Club and the former Wachusett Neighbors and Newcomers Club, where she served as Membership Chair, Treasurer, and Board Member.

Linda will be so lovingly remembered for her gentle nature, and kind, loving spirit. Through many adversities, Linda always kept her sense of humor. She had an outgoing personality and was loved by all who knew her; even those she met recently.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit on Friday, November 22nd from 9:30-10:30am at the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St. in Holden. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00am in St. Mary’s Church, 114 Princeton St., Jefferson. Linda will be laid to rest privately.

In lieu of flowers, Linda’s family requests that memorial donations be made to a family in need, or to Rose Monahan Hospice c/o VNA Care, Fund Development Office, 100 Trade Center, Ste. G-500, Woburn, MA 01801-1872.
