Subscription Update Obituary

     Lillian A. (McMahon) Scavone, 89, passed away Saturday, June 7, 2014 at Beaumont Skilled Nursing Center. She was predeceased by her husband of 46 years, Paul J. Scavone in 1998 and a son, Paul E. Scavone in 2012.

     She leaves two daughters; Maryellen Scavone of Holden and Charlene M. Sullivan and her husband Lawrence of Worcester; a brother, Edward McMahon of Worcester; three grandchildren, Dominic Scavone and his wife Denisse, Erin Regan and her husband Mark, Maura Sullivan and her fiancé Ryan Walsh ; great granddaughter, Lillie and many nephews and nieces. She was also predeceased by two brothers, William and John McMahon and two sisters, Ellen Carlson and Mary Prunier.

     She was born in Worcester, daughter of William and Mary (McGuirk) McMahon graduated from St. Peter’s High School and was then employed at New England Telephone. In later years, Mrs. Scavone worked for Thom McAn Shoe Company for many years, retiring in 1987. She is a member of St. George’s Church. Lillian loved her long Sunday rides for ice cream with Bunky and their grandchildren. She also enjoyed watching the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots.

     Lillian’s family would like to thank the caring staff at Beaumont Skilled Nursing Center for the exceptional care they provided to her.

     The funeral will be held on Wednesday, June 11 from CALLAHAN FAY & CASWELL FUNERAL HOME, 61 Myrtle Street with a Mass at 10 am at St. George Parish, 38 Brattle Street, Worcester. Burial will follow at Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. A visiting hour will also be held on Wednesday from 8:30-9:30 am at the funeral home.

     In lieu of flowers, donations in Lillian’s memory may be made to Boston Foundation for Sight, 464 Hillside Avenue, Suite 205, Needham, MA 02494.
