Subscription Update Obituary

Laurence W. Bengtson, 61, died peacefully on Wednesday, May 4, 2022, at UMass Memorial Medical Center – University Campus, Worcester. He was born in Holden, the son of the late Harold and Ruth (Foudy) Bengtson and lived in Holden for most of his life.

Laurence graduated from Wachusett High School with the class of 1978 and went on to study at Worcester Sate College. He had a lifelong passion for cooking and followed this passion to a career as a chef. Laurence expressed his love for others through the food he served at Jimmy D’s and The Boat House restaurants. He owned The Angry Tomato restaurant for a time as well. He was a kind and giving man who will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Laurence will be lovingly missed and remembered by his daughter, Kayla Bengtson of Middleborough; his son, Alec Bengtson of Middleborough; and his sister, Cathie Kennen and her husband, Bruce of Spencer. He was predeceased by his brother Johnny Bengtson.

Funeral services are private and under the care of Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden.
