Subscription Update Obituary

Lawrence Van Cott Sr., 72 of Spencer, passed away peacefully at the Rose Monahan Hospice Home in Worcester on Tuesday, October 8, 2024.

He was predeceased by his parents Emerson Van Cott Sr. & Angela (Leveillee) Van Cott both of Worcester. Lawrence leaves his son, Lawrence Van Cott Jr. of Southbridge; a daughter, Tara Van Cott of Northbridge; a grandson Kyle Westerman of New London CT., a sister Marjorie McDonald of East Douglas and several nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by his three brothers Emerson Jr., Paul Sr. & Ray Van Cott and two sisters, Eleanor Berthiaume and AnnMarie Van Cott.

Larry had an outgoing personality and made many friends, especially his beloved friend Charlie. Over the years Charlie was Larry’s confidant and shoulder to lean on. Mr. Van Cott was a dedicated member of Mary, Queen of the Rosary Parish and lived his faith on a daily basis. He looked forward to all the opportunities that he had to be with other parishioners of the church.

Larry was a machinist for 35 years at Thermo Electron and was known by his friends as a giver. He loved to give, whether it be a handful of candy or a “flashlight.”

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday, October 11 at 10 AM in Mary, Queen of the Rosary Church 7 Church Street Spencer. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. A calling hour will be held from 9 to 10 AM in the church prior to his funeral.

Alfred Roy & Sons Funeral Home 12 Hammond St. Worcester is directing arrangements.
