Kenneth F. Mahan, 97, passed away peacefully on October 27th, 2024 at Dodge Park Rest Home in Worcester. His beloved wife, Mary “O’Gara” Mahan, of over 70 years passed away in 2021.

After graduating high school, Ken proudly served in the United States Navy during World War II. He was called back during the Korean Conflict to serve in the United States Army where he was stationed in Germany. Upon returning from his service, he attended Worcester State Teachers College and taught science at Harrington Way and later at South High School. Kenneth and his wife enjoyed many years of camping at Coldbrook Campground in Barre and Bourne Scenic Park on Cape Cod. In later years they also spent time in Brewster where they owned a home. He also enjoyed antiquing, fishing, coaching, “putzing around the house” and cheering on all Boston sports teams and telling stories about his time in the service. Above all he cherished time spent with his family and will be missed dearly. He leaves behind his children, Thomas Mahan and his wife, Janice of Virginia, James K. Mahan and his wife, Sarah of Holden, Susan Brennan and her husband, Stephen of Worcester and Kenneth E. Mahan, husband of the late Helena Mahan, of Worcester; his grandchildren, Meghan, Michael, Matthew, Maura, Thomas, Cecilia and Kenny, Jr. and his step grandchildren, Richard, Russell, Ruth and Joyce and his sister, Dr. Elizabeth A. Mahan. He also leaves behind seven great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. A very special thanks to all staff at Dodge Park Rest Home and Notre Dame Hospice for the excellent care he received.

Family and friends are welcomed to a celebration of Kenneth’s life with visiting hours Sunday, November 3rd at Callahan, Fay & Caswell Life Celebration Home, 61 Myrtle Street, Worcester from 2:00pm until 4:00pm. A funeral Mass will be held on Monday, November 4th at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, 929 Main Street, Worcester at 10:00am. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton.
