Katherine Edna (Johnson) Wilson, age 89, of Auburn, MA, passed away peacefully in her sleep on July 8, 2015.
She was born in Worcester, the daughter of the late Clifford D. and Siiri S. (Hautanen) Johnson and is the widow of the late Edward M. Wilson who died in 1993. She leaves behind her brothers, Francis J Johnson of Dennis, Clifford W. Johnson and his wife, Jacqueline of South Yarmouth, and her sister, Janice M. Govoni and her husband, Paul of Auburn, MA. Katherine was the devoted mother of Janet M. Riley and her husband, Darius of Cambridge, MD, Daniel M Wilson and his wife, Karen of Rutland, and Diane L Kampf and her husband, Gregory of Whitinsville; loving grandmother of Kassandra St. Gelais and husband, Brian, Troy Wilson, Cheryl Walczak, Steven Nickerson and his wife, Patricia, Tracy Casey and her husband, Aaron, Andrew, Peter and Dwight Riley, granddaughter-in-law Brenda Riley. She also leaves behind her great-grandchildren Jonathon Riley, Julie Riley and her fiancé, Brandon McGee, Anthony and Kaitlyn St. Gelais, Julie Gaffaney, Anthony and Aaron Nickerson, Hunter and Kyra Ann Casey, Alex and Adam Walczak; her great-great grandson Brantley McGee, and several cousins, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by grandsons, Darius (Bill) Riley, Jr., Richard Riley and Jason Boulay.
Katherine lived in Auburn most of her life and graduated from Auburn High school in 1943. She worked many years at the former Worcester Pressed Aluminum, retiring in the 1980’s. Katherine enjoyed following her beloved Red Sox along with the Patriots and Bruins, making jigsaw puzzles, using Facebook and emailing on her computer, playing bingo, cards and going shopping. Katherine enjoyed visits from her grand dog, Jake but most of all she loved to spend time with her devoted family and friends and she cherished every moment she had with them.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Katherine’s family on Monday, July 13, 2015 from 5-8 PM in the Britton-Wallace Funeral Home, 91 Central Street, Auburn. Her funeral will be on Tuesday from the funeral home with a funeral Mass at 10 AM in St. Joseph’s Church, 189 Oxford Street North, Auburn. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the VNA of Southern Worcester County Inc., 191 Pakachoag St, Auburn, MA 01501.
