Kamal Afshari, age 63, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Monday, January 31, 2022. He was born and raised in Tehran, Iran, the son of Ahmad and Maryam (Orabashiha) Afshari.
Growing up, Kami would share stories about his life in Iran and his travels once he left. From Pakistan to England, he spent his time immersed in the culture of whatever country he was in. One of the things that his family loved most was that he was always so proud to be Persian, and they will carry on the traditions that he taught them and share the stories that he told them as they move through life. He always had a spirit of adventure and excitement, skiing in the alps of Austria, Chili, France, yearly trips to Utah, and biking Martha’s Vineyard with his Old Colony Friends. No matter the sport, whether it was skiing, biking, or playing soccer, he was always the “Iranian Champion”.

Kami began his career as a stylist working for his brother, Mo at Moji Hair Design. This is where he met the love of his life, Andrea. They soon got married and opened their own hair salon, Kami & Co, on March 7, 1992. It went on to be the number one hair salon in Westborough 6 years in a row. He loved his business and putting smiles on people’s faces.

There was never a dull moment, he brought life to everything he touched. The unconditional love he had for his family was evident everywhere he went and in everything he did. His happiest moments were when he was breaking bread and sharing stories with the ones he loved.

He is survived by his three daughters, Rachel, Julia and Morgan Afshari; his granddaughter, Lyla Grace Sexton; his siblings, Reza, Moji, and Saeideh Afshari. Besides his parents, he is predeceased by brother, Morteza Afshari.
“Daddy, thank you so much for being the most amazing father we could have ever hoped for. You showered us with love until your last moments. We hope that you know that you were so incredibly loved by all three of us and many more and we already miss you so much. We will miss your stories, your laugh, we would always joke around and say that it sounded like a hyenas (especially when you were with your brothers). We will miss your cooking, loud sneezes, stories, hugs, and especially the “I love yous”. We will cherish the time that we had with you and all the amazing moments. We are so proud of you, we love you very much and you will always be with us.”

A graveside service honoring his life will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, February 5th at Worcester County Memorial Park, 217 Richard’s Ave., Paxton. A celebration of life will follow from 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM at El Basha, 256 Park Ave., Worcester. In lieu of flowers please donate to the American Cancer Society online at https://www.cancer.org/involved/donate.html. Funeral arrangements are under the care of Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden.
