June M. (Madej) Howell, 87, died peacefully, Tuesday February 13, following a period of declining health. She leaves her husband George A. “Jake” Howell. They would have celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary in August. She also leaves a son, Stephen G. Howell and his wife Paula of Paxton; two daughters, Linda C. White and her husband Arthur III of Spencer, and Brenda A. McSherry and her partner Robert Zackary of Morrisville, VT.; a sister, Joyce Soderberg and her husband George of Venice, FL.; four grandchildren, Arthur F. White IV and his wife Michelle, Kimberly White, Crystal White, and Jacob Howell; and one great-granddaughter, Molly White. Born in Worcester, she was the daughter of Stanley & Margaret (Dufault) Madej. She was a graduate of David Prouty High School and was the valedictorian of her graduating class. June owned and operated the Telephone Answering Service of Spencer, in her home on Greenville St., for over 15 years. She later worked at Flexcon in Spencer as a purchasing agent. She was a member of the 1st Congregational Church of Spencer and the Eastern Lake Ontario Salmon & Trout Association. June was very talented and enjoyed many hobbies including knitting, sewing, jewelry making, and most importantly fishing with her husband Jake. Together they spent many wonderful years enjoying their time in their second home on Lake Ontario in Fairhaven, NY. June was an excellent cook and enjoyed hosting and spending time with family and friends. The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff and caregivers at Homestead Hall and Goddard House of Worcester, for their loving care provided to June over the past few years. At the family’s request no services are planned. A private graveside service will be held in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton, at a later date. The J. HENRI MORIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 23 Maple Terr., Spencer is assisting the family with arrangements.
