Judith A. Markunas, 66, of Worcester died Monday, July 29th at home surrounded by her loving family. She leaves her husband of 22 years, David P. “Dave” Markunas; two daughters, Sarah McDonald of Worcester and Melissa McDonald of Dudley; two brothers, Dennis Darling and his wife, April of Texas, and Stephen Darling of Millbury; three sisters, Linda Darling of Mashpee, Sandy Darling of Sandwich, and Lisa Darling of Worcester; a granddaughter, Mackenzie McDonald; and many nieces and nephews.
A beloved member of the Worcester community, Judith was born and raised in Worcester. She was the daughter of the late Wyman and Joanne (Kapulka) Darling. Judith graduated from South High School and furthered her education at Quinsigamond Community College, where she earned a degree in Nursing.
Judith dedicated 15 years of her career to Worcester State Hospital, where she served as a compassionate and skilled nurse. She retired in 2000 due to illness but remained active in her interests and hobbies.
Judith had a deep love for animals, especially her cat, Annie, and her dog, Gracie. She had a green thumb and took great pride in her beautiful flower and vegetable gardens. An avid crafter, she enjoyed crocheting and knitting.
One of her favorite places was Cape Cod, where she loved to spend time by the ocean. Judith also enjoyed playing board games like Yahtzee and cherished the moments spent with her family, especially during cookouts and family gatherings.
She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Her graveside service will be held on Wednesday, August 14th at 12:00 NOON in Worcester County Memorial Park, 217 Richards Avenue, Paxton in Section Valor II.
