WORCESTER- Juan Andrade Melo, 85 of Paxton, MA entered eternal rest on January 27th, 2021 after 28 years of battling Neurological Disorders.

Juan was born in Minas – Ecuador on September 11, 1935 a son of the late Juan and Lucilia Melo de Andrade. He was the eighth of ten siblings.

At a young age he graduated from The Fiscal Nocturna Borja La Bayer, and upon graduation he attended the Universidad de Guayaquil Facultad de Ciencias Economicas where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Economic.

He landed his first job at The Corte Provincial de Guayaquil as secretary. He had a passion for writing, and became very proficient in using a manual typewriter, which allowed him to share his opinions with the Guayaquil community through the newspaper “El Unirveso”. He contributed editorial columns in support of his community.

He worked at Instituto de Investigaciones Económica y Políticas de la Universidad de Guayaquil where he managed research projects which contributed to solving problems that hinder the development of the country. He became a Professor at Universidad de Guayaquil and Universidad Laica.

He had a great entrepreneurial spirit, as a business owner he operated Ecualimentos a specialty Meat House and Bar & Grill restaurants called Hacienda for 20 years.

He loved spending time with his family and loved his summers at the beautiful beaches of our country and visiting his family in the Ecuadorian mountains.

He was a devoted parishioner of Iglesia San Juan Maria Vianney de Guayaquil-Ecuador where he actively participated in his Catholic faith.

He leaves behind his loving wife, Elvia Andrade; son Pablo Andrade and his wife Marina Hanze de Andrade, daughter Pamela Palmer, son Juan Carlos Andrade and his wife Veronica Castañeda de Andrade and his eight grandchildren Juan Jose Andrade, Matthew Palmer, Melissa Andrade, Gabriella Palmer, Skylar Andrade, Jared Andrade, Logan Andrade and Rebeca Andrade, as well as many other extended family members.

Family and friends will celebrate Juan’s life on Saturday, February 13th with a viewing from 10:30 until 11:45am at the Cathedral of St. Paul, 15 Chatham St., Worcester. A funeral Mass will follow at 12 Noon.

The family asks that all contribution be made in Juan Andrade’s name to the Cathedral of St. Paul, Worcester in lieu of flowers.

Gratitude to the excellent Nursing Facility team at The Meadows, doctors, nurses, and administrative staff who lovingly cared for my father during his illness, as well as those who attended to my father while a patient at St Vincent Hospital.
