Subscription Update Obituary

     Joyce M. (Noel) Russell, 82, of Worcester, passed away peacefully in her home while surrounded by her loving family on Friday, May 7, 2021 after a brief illness.

Mrs. Russell was married for 54 years to the late John S. Russell Jr., who died in 2014. She is survived by 5 sons, John Russell III of Worcester, William Russell and his wife, Lianna of Worcester, Andrew Russell of Atkinson, NH, Stephen Russell of Worcester and Christopher of Grafton; a daughter, Lynn Zukowsky and her husband, Robert of Worcester; 2 brothers, Paul Noel of Auburn and William Noel of Florida; 1 sister, Paulette Beck of Florida; a close friend, Robert Tetreault; 8 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren and many nephews and nieces.

Joyce was born in Worcester daughter of the late Joseph and Rita (Baillargeron) Noel and is also predeceased by a son, Brian Russell; a brother Joel Noel and a sister, Barbara Dube.

Joyce worked for 14 years in the food service department of Saint Vincent Hospital and previously worked at Holy Trinity Nursing Home and the former Block New England Company. Recently Joyce had worked for Wal-Mart in their Leicester store as a greeter.

Mrs. Russell was a devoted member of Our Lady of the Angels Church and always put the needs of her family first. She was an avid sports fan, especially the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots but it was her family that brought the most happiness. She would spend many Sunday nights at Thunderbird Bowl and taking trips to Hampton Beach with her family.

The funeral will be held on Tuesday, May 11, 2021 from the Alfred Roy & Sons Funeral Home 12 Hammond St. with a Mass at 10 AM in Our Lady of the Angels Church 1222 Main Street. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours are in the funeral home on Monday, May 10, 2021 from 5 to 7 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Stroke Association PO Box 840692 Dallas, TX 75284.

If you are unable to attend the Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, you are welcome to watch, by visiting her obituary on the funeral home website any time after 3 PM on Tuesday.

In accordance with CDC guidelines, masks will be required for attendance at the calling hours and funeral services.
