Joyce D. (Forstedt) Nelson, 81, of Leicester, peacefully passed away Thursday, November 14th in Life Care Center of Auburn after her courageous battle with cancer. She leaves her loving husband of 60 years Edward F. Nelson, Jr., her sons Michael E. Nelson and his wife Felicia J. of North Attleboro, and Steven J. Nelson of Palmer, her beloved grandchildren Savanna and Kyle Nelson of Boston, her sisters Lois Minnock of Naples, FL, Janet Choate of Barnet, VT, and Carol Durham of Southbridge, MA, and many nieces and nephews. Her loving niece “Nurse of the Family” Trisha Marengo provided exceptional support and care to Joyce during her illness. She was born in Worcester, November 5, 1943, the daughter of Bernard and Ruth (Sullivan) Forstedt and later graduated from the former Commerce High School in Worcester, Class of 1961. Joyce was an assistant office manager at the Fair Department Store in Worcester MA before her retirement.

She enjoyed spending time at their condo in Naples, FL, visiting her relatives and watching the dolphins from the Naples Pier. She loved her trips to Foxwoods and Twin River casinos, spending time with her beloved grandchildren Savanna and Kyle, reading and puzzles. The family would like to give special thanks to the staff at Life Care Center of Auburn for their compassionate care of Joyce while she was at their facility.

Calling hours for Joyce will be held on Wednesday, November 20 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the MORIN FUNERAL HOME, 1131 Main St., Leicester. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM at the funeral home, with the burial following in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton.
