Joseph D. DiPilato, 42, passed away, Thursday, January 6.

He leaves his wife Melissa Grosse of Holden, a son, L. Guiseppi DiPilato of Auburn; a sister, Tracy Prater and her husband, Joshua of Spencer; a brother, Brandon Nergararian and his fiancé Nichole Wolf of Royal Oak, MI; a nephew, Gavin and numerous cousins, aunts, and uncles.

Joe was born in Worcester, son of Leo J. and Dianna L. (Dawes) DiPilato. He graduated from Worcester Vocational High School in 1998 where he studied machine shop. He was a machinist and tool die specialist, which he loved and was his passion. Joe also followed in his grandfather’s footsteps and became a volunteer firefighter for the Town of Spencer Fire Department. He was very proud of this.

Joe was an assistant coach for his son’s little league in Worcester as well as in Spencer for his nephew. Joe loved his family and was very proud of his son, Guiseppi. He loved spending time with him on the beaches of Cape Cod. He enjoyed playing pool (and winning) and was an avid Red Sox and Bruins fan. He enjoyed watching classic movies, some of which he could quote word for word. He was funny and loyal, and will be missed by many.

Visiting Hours are Friday, January 14 from 4 to 7pm at Callahan Fay Caswell Life Celebration Home, 61 Myrtle Street. Burial will be private in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Herren Project at www.herrenproject.org or to the Spencer Firefighters Assoc., 11 West Main Street, Spencer, 01562.
